Inclusive Campus Culture

Values to make UWA a great place to work

Many areas of the University already enjoy the benefits of a positive working environment, based on the University's values, and have effective strategies in place to communicate respectfully.

The goal of the Inclusive Campus Culture strategy is to expand that positive culture to encompass all personal and professional interactions across campus.

Values

UWA aims to create a vibrant and positive campus environment by encouraging staff to practise the broad values of:

Staff commitment

All UWA employees agree, upon joining the organisation, to uphold the values and standards of behaviour set out in the UWA Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct.

These Codes clearly define what the University means by respect, diversity, inclusiveness and fairness and this shared understanding provides the foundation for a cohesive campus culture.

Policies and procedures

In addition to the Codes, UWA is committed to developing, implementing and reviewing a wide range of policies and procedures. This process is a dynamic one and aims to be responsive to the many factors contributing to the experience of staff and students on campus. The policies and procedures at UWA support, and are in turn supported by, the values espoused in the Codes. This mutual and consistent process, when at its best, contributes to the 'great place to work' experience familiar to so many members of the campus community at UWA.
